Our History

Our Beginnings

On December 11, 1875, Fall Creek Baptist Church was started with the acceptance and blessing of Swaims Baptist Church of Hamptonville, NC. The first meeting was in the home of J.A. Martin on December 31, 1875. At this meeting, the Rev. J. K. Rose preached a message suitable to the occasion and they chose the name of the new church to be Fall Creek Baptist . The first deacons of the church were E.N. Gwyn, A. Vestal, J.K. Rose, and S.M. Vestal. After being the interim pastor for the first nine months, J.K. Rose was followed by J. P. Adams on October 6, 1876. The meetings during the first six months were held at the homes of J.A. Martin and A. Vestal. The record shows a membership of 34.

The first revival meeting began on November 26, 1876 and continued for nine days. At this meeting, 17 people professed faith in Christ.

The first church building was constructed in the spring of 1877 and on May 26th, the first sermons were preached by the Rev. J.P. Adams and M.M. Vestal. The first communion service was also held that year.

A New Building

On December 25, 1919 the church met and voted to build a new building. A building committee was elected and a collection was received at the time which amounted to $80.00. The new church was built and the first sermon was preached in it on November 20, 1921 by T. F. Pardue. The first prayer was offered by the Rev. J.R. Jolly. The new church was dedicated on Thanksgiving Day, 1923.
